Rita Ora Bio

Rita Ora (British singer-songwriter) is her name. She was born Rita Sahatciu Ora in 1990 in Pristina, Kosovo, to Vera (Bajraktari) and Besnik Sahatciu. She is the granddaughter of director Besim Sahatciu. At the age of one her family made the decision to move to the United Kingdom. She was born in West London, attended St Cuthbert with St Matthias CE Primary School in Earls Court and graduated from Sylvia Young Theatre School. She began singing at a young age. In 2004, she appeared in the British film Spivs. After a successful audition for Eurovision Your Country requires You (BBC One), she was chosen to represent the UK in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. She later pulled out of the contest after several episodes, feeling that the stage wasn't set. Ora's first music release was in 2007 when she featured on the song of Craig David "Awkward" and then in 2008 with "Where is Your Love" featuring Tinchy Stryder. In addition, she appeared in the music videos. Ora started singing in bars in London. A few days later, Ora flew to New York to meet Jay-Z and an A&R rep inform Roc Nation about Ora. Ora appeared in Jay-Z's 2009 video of "Young Forever" and "Over" from Drake. Jay-Z noticed Ora and then sat down to sign her up with Roc Nation. She was the subject of a commercial featuring Skullcandy Aviator Headphones. She began singing at the same pub where her father, Besnik, was a pub owner. Gwen Stefani was her major influence. Her father was a pub owner and she began her singing career from the same bar. Kate Moss and Ed Sheeran have been friends for a while.
