Renee Kathleen Zellweger is a daughter
of Kjellfrid Andreassen an ex-midwife as well as a nurse from Norway. She was
born on April 25 of 1969, in Katy. Her father, Emil Erich Zellweger, is an
engineer born in Switzerland. They got married in 1963. Renee is a sister to a
brother called Drew Zellweger, a marketing executive who was born on the 15th
of February, 1967. As a member of the drama group, Renee became interested in
acting. She also attended an acting course at the University of Texas (Austin),
where she began looking towards acting as a career. She was determined to
pursue acting upon graduation. But, Hollywood can be difficult to make it into
so Renee decided that she would stay in Texas and audition for roles in
Houston. She got roles in films such as Reality Bites (1994), and Empire
Records (1995). While working on the sequel to that film, Texas Chainsaw
Massacre: The Next Generation (1994), she befriended Matthew McConaughey,
another Hollywood up-and-comer. Renee watched him work on a project that
interested her. She auditioned and got the part in Love and A.45 (1994). It
received enough praise from critics to decide to move to Los Angeles. Her
biggest break came when she was cast in another role in The Whole Wide World
(1996). Cameron Crowe was busy with casting Jerry Maguire (1996) in which she
starred Tom Cruise. Crowe was considering such actresses as Cameron Diaz,
Bridget Fonda, Winona Ryder, and Marisa Tomei when he saw Zellweger's
performance in The Whole Wide World (1996). He attended an audition with
Zellweger and was sure he'd discovered the perfect Dorothy Boyd. After
following her success in a handful of independent movies, Renee felt confident
enough to return to the big-budget Hollywood film industry. Meryl Streep
appeared alongside her in One True Thing (1998). She also took a role in Me,
Myself & Irene (2000) in which she starred alongside Jim Carrey, and
soon after began dating Carrey. Bridget Jones's Diary (2001) as the title role.
